When I click a link in an email in IceDove/Thunderbird, the target opens in a browser defined by a mechanism handling several applications.
This mechanism is relatively smart, and the preferred behavior can be changed by issuing the following as root:
update-alternatives --config x-www-browser
The following menu appears:
Urval Alternativ
-----------------------------------------------
1 /usr/bin/epiphany
2 /usr/bin/firefox
*+ 3 /usr/bin/konqueror
and I can choose my prefered browser. Voila!
